Mogadishu – The Banadir Regional Education Directorate on Sunday unveiled the schedule for Grade 8 certificate examinations during the 2025-26 academic year, with thousands of students across the region expected to participate in the exams.
Education officials reported that all preparations for the examinations have been finalized and enhanced measures have been implemented to guarantee transparency, fairness, and quality throughout the examination process.
The directorate appealed to school administrators, teachers, and parents to assist students as they prepare for the exams. It also encouraged families and educational institutions to establish a supportive and motivating atmosphere for academic achievement.
The Grade 8 examinations are a component of Somalia’s broader initiative to standardize educational evaluation and improve accountability within schools.
This announcement precedes the national secondary school examinations, which are slated to take place between June 20 and 25.
Approximately 40,000 students from federal member states and the Banadir region are anticipated to take part in the secondary school examinations this year. According to the Ministry of Education, 38,471 students participated in the national secondary examinations last year.
Education authorities emphasize that unified examinations are crucial for enhancing Somalia’s educational framework and ensuring that students are evaluated under uniform national standards.
